A Warm & Supportive Preschool Environment

The preschool years from 3–5 years are a vital time for growth, confidence, and learning.

During this stage, children thrive when they feel safe, supported, and empowered to explore, build friendships, and develop independence within a nurturing environment.

In the Marri Room, we focus on creating a stimulating, inclusive preschool setting where children feel confident, valued, and encouraged to learn through play.

Our program supports social development, emotional regulation, communication skills, and early school readiness, while allowing children to follow their interests and strengths.

Our educators take the time to truly know each child, their personalities, interests, routines, and learning styles, so they feel understood, supported, and confident as they prepare for the transition to school.

Social & Emotional Development

Social and emotional growth is a key focus of our Marri Room program. Children are supported to:

  • Build friendships and cooperate with peers

  • Develop empathy, kindness, and respect for others

  • Learn to recognise and manage emotions

  • Develop confidence and resilience

Educators model and guide positive behaviour, supporting children to problem-solve, communicate their feelings, and develop strong social skills in a safe and respectful way.

Building Strong Relationships

At the heart of the Marri Room are strong, trusting relationships. We support children by:

  • Responding gently and consistently to their needs

  • Creating familiar routines that help children feel secure

  • Offering comfort and reassurance, especially during drop-offs and transitions

  • Working closely with families so care at the centre reflects home routines

When children feel safe in their relationships, they develop confidence, curiosity and a strong sense of belonging.

Independence & Confidence

As children grow, they are supported to develop independence and self-help skills in a gentle, encouraging way. In the Marri Room, children are empowered to:

  • Make choices

  • Care for their belongings

  • Participate in daily routines

  • Develop confidence in their abilities

Educators provide guidance and reassurance, helping children feel capable and proud of what they can do.

Communication & Language Development

We support children to develop strong communication skills through:

  • Conversations with educators and peers

  • Storytelling, songs, and group discussions

  • Early literacy experiences such as books, drawing, and mark making

Children are encouraged to express their ideas, ask questions, and build confidence using language, supporting both verbal communication and early literacy foundations for school.

Educator-to-Child Ratios

To ensure each child receives the care and attention they need, we follow the National Quality Framework educator-to-child ratios at all times:

  • 3 years to 5 years: 1 educator to 10 children

These ratios allow our educators to form close connections and provide responsive, attentive care.

Working in Partnership With Families

We believe families know their children best.

We value open communication and work in partnership with you to support your child’s routines, development and wellbeing.

Our doors are always open, and we welcome ongoing conversations to ensure your child feels safe, happy and supported.

We look forward to welcoming your family into the Marri Room, where your child will be cared for with warmth, respect and genuine care.

Diverse Hands Together

Our Curriculum

Belonging, Being & Becoming in the Marri Room (3–5 Years)

Our Marri Room learning program follows the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and is guided by the principles of Belonging, Being and Becoming.

These principles are thoughtfully embedded into our preschool program to support children aged 3–5 years as they build confidence, independence, and a strong foundation for school and life.

Belonging

In the Marri Room, belonging is nurtured through strong, respectful relationships with educators and peers. Children are supported to form friendships, develop a sense of identity, and feel confident being themselves within a safe and inclusive environment.

Educators take the time to truly know each child, their interests, strengths, and emotions, ensuring every child feels valued, heard, and connected.

Being

Being in the Marri Room means giving children the time and space to explore, play, and learn in the present moment. Through play-based experiences, group interactions, and meaningful routines, children are encouraged to express their ideas, develop social skills, and enjoy learning with confidence.

Children are supported to make choices, problem-solve, and engage in experiences that reflect their interests while feeling supported and secure.

Becoming

Becoming in the Marri Room focuses on supporting children as they grow into confident, capable learners in preparation for school. Our program supports the development of social and emotional skills, communication, independence, and resilience.

Through gentle guidance and encouragement, children build the skills they need to transition to formal schooling feeling confident, capable, and ready for their next chapter.
